The Chicago Initiative

University of Chicago students give back to their community in many ways. Whether through student organizations on campus or volunteer opportunities in Hyde Park and beyond, students play an essential role in philanthropy. Contributing to the Senior Class Gift is another important way students can give back to Chicago.

The Senior Class Gift Committee is the organizing force behind the success of the Senior Class Gift Campaign. Twenty to thirty committee members work directly with development office staff in leading class members to participate in giving back to the College. The Senior Class Gift benefits the College Fund, which supports such College priorities as financial aid, study abroad programs, internships, and faculty support. Fourth-years are nominated for the committee by College administrators, but all interested seniors are encouraged to volunteer. Meetings are monthly early in the academic year and more frequent during the spring quarter.
